Newcastle Startup Week Is Back For 2019 And Is Coming To Gateshead

As in previous years, the five-day entrepreneurship and innovation festival will begin on Monday 13 May with Day 1 (‘Inspiration Day’) at The Boiler Shop on Stephenson Quarter in Newcastle but Day 2 (‘Getting Started’) will take place at St Mary’s Heritage Centre, Gateshead on Tuesday 14 May. The rest of the week’s events will be based at various venues across the city.

Councillor John Adams, Cabinet Member for the Economy said, “This is great news. It’s important that entrepreneurs from across Newcastle and Gateshead work together to maximise the creative, social and economic potential of the North East by developing strategic and creative initiatives, sharing practice and resources, and by being a strong collective voice. I would encourage the Gateshead community to get involved if they’re not already.”

“There’s lots happening this side of the Tyne, especially on Baltic Quarter. PROTO: The Emerging Technology Centre is opening soon. Europe’s first dedicated facility for emerging tech, and part of Digital Catapult NETV, will give businesses of any size, from any sector, the opportunity to explore VR and AR amongst other emerging tech. For example, if you’re a new retailer you might test AR to determine what buyers look at in a shop and what their eyes are drawn to, helping with product placement.
