Q&A With Rianne Thompson – Tipping Point Live 2019
Tipping Point is pleased to welcome Rianne Thompson to our Curator Panel for this year's Tipping Point Live Festival. Rianne Thompson is a Presenter and Producer at Amazing Radio, which is solely dedicated to broadcasting new and emerging music. Her weekday show provides a platform for live sessions, insightful interviews and back-to-back new releases, as well as festival coverage. Rianne’s most recent project outside of radio has been the Noisy Daughters independent vinyl release, which will promote North East female musicians. Check out the Q&A we did with her...
What excites you about supporting an event showcasing the best new music in the north-east and wider north?
To be involved with a festival which focuses on new and emerging acts from around the area allows me to show my support for artists from the very beginning of their career.
How important do you feel festivals like this are for the development of artists?
Hugely important! Supporting artists from the very beginning is vital and playing festivals from early on allows artists to hone their craft in a live environment and exposure to potential new fans.
Do you have any fond memories of the North-East in general?
I saw Shame last year at The Cluny – a brilliant Independent Venue which sits in the middle of the Ouseburn Valley and it was one of my favourite gigs in 2018. Not only were the crowd outrageously wild, I always feel the most at home when watching live music at The Cluny. An important gig space for the music community in Newcastle.
