Social Media Masterclasses Set To Launch in 2019
Digital Union, the leading business network in the North East of England for creative digital and tech companies, is rolling out a series of events for North East businesses keen to brush up on their social media skills.
Following the success of previous social media workshops hosted by Generator, which runs Digital Union, the #DUSocial series, set to launch in January, consists of monthly half-day masterclasses offering high-quality guidance and expert insight into the ever-changing world of social media.
The first #DUSocial session, which will take place on Thursday 31 January at Tyneside Cinema, will focus on content creation, offering strategic advice and practical tips on how to create posts that will drive engagement with audiences on specific platforms.
Jim Mawdsley, CEO at business support agency Generator, said: “Social media can be a confusing and daunting world, even for those who work within digital marketing and communications roles.
“Having polled businesses across the region, the #DUSocial series has been designed with their needs in mind, and will cater for all – from experienced marketers, to those with little to no social media experience too.”
Digital Union has partnered with some of the most forward-thinking social media minds from across the country to speak at the events, providing a unique opportunity for North East businesses to hear from nationally-renowned, trailblazing social media innovators.
The first session will be delivered by creative technology and communications expert Christian Payne who runs Documentally.
Mr Payne said on the workshops: “I’m really looking forward to working with the Generator team again. The social media space is continually evolving. There’s more to just being sociable with your media. We need to think networks over audience and how content can resonate and make those you intend to connect with actually feel something.”
Jim continued: “The UK is seen as a global leader when it comes to social media but being in our North East bubble, it’s often hard to keep up with our London counterparts. But as Brexit uncertainty continues to cast a shadow over the business community, it’s vitally important for businesses to take control and adopt a proactive approach and social media goes a long way in helping businesses get noticed.
“Our aim with the #DUSocial series is to arm businesses with the skills and inspiration they need to make themselves heard on social media, that’s why we have partnered with genuine experts who are at the top of their game. Attendees can expect high-quality and practical tips that they can implement immediately.”
The following two masterclasses will focus on LinkedIn and Podcasting and are being delivered in association with O Communications, The Hand Dyed Shoe Co. and Ian Farrar and will take place on 28th February and 28th March respectively.
