Sunderland Software City Announces New Partnership To Support Region’s Tech Sector
Accounting firm RSM has struck a new partnership with Sunderland Software City (SSC) to support the North East’s growing technology sector.
The two companies have teamed up to make it easier for businesses to access the advice needed for scaling up and competing internationally.
As a partner of SSC, which offers business support and skills training for tech companies in the region, RSM will provide strategic accountancy and business advisory services.
Its offering will range from tax, financial reporting and funding options to transactions, fraud and key consultancy support.
Richard Urron, partner at RSM’s Newcastle office, said: “It’s an exciting time for the tech sector in the North East, having seen a 78% uplift in startups in the last year.
“Entrepreneurs are attracted to the North East due to a combination of the region’s universities playing a key role in developing and nurturing talent; an increase in access to finance following the launch of the North East Fund; and a strong, growing tech ecosystem.”
He continued: “It’s great to be working with Sunderland Software City. It brings together a range of public, private and educational sectors; and through regional collaboration we can spearhead growth and encourage inward investment to deliver a sustainable outlook for the software industry in the region.
“We look forward to helping facilitate further growth in the sector as part of our partnership.”
SSC business support specialist Jeni Banks commented: “RSM works with businesses looking to scale-up on a day-to-day basis, so it is a perfect fit to support local ambitious firms as they grow.
“They not only have the expertise and capabilities to offer a range of services, but RSM has the scale to help businesses across the UK or internationally to support each step of the business lifecycle.”
Jeni added: “We believe this partnership will complement our existing suite of business support services – ultimately providing more opportunities for tech start-ups to access specialist advice at the point that they need it.”
