TIPPER OF THE WEEK: NICI EBERL

This week we continue our latest feature on the Tipping Point, spotlighting the biggest and best emerging acts from across the UK. Each Monday, we ask one of our esteemed tippers to select five of their hottest tips to be featured on the site throughout the week.

Next up we’ve got Nici Eberl, an Austrian born, London based photographer mainly shooting music, events and portraits. Over the years she’s worked with various clients ranging from Ticketweb, Live Nation to The 405 and does the house photography at renowned venues like O2 Academy Brixton and O2 Forum. She has had various big names in front of her lens: Korn, Foals, Sundara Karma and Jake Isaac to name a few and can be found at festivals all summer long. Dig into Nici’s tips below!

BARNS COURTNEY

I discovered Barns a few moons ago at The Great Escape Festival where he back then played his first ever show with his newly formed band. Fast forward 3 years and he’s one of the big names in the emerging scene and has only just supported The Hunna at Brixton Academy. Keep your eyes peeled for him – he’ll be big.

LADY BIRD

The three-piece punk bunch from Kent are set to fly high. The band is not only signed to fellow punks Slaves new label but also have kick-started the waves and made it onto various “Ones to Watch” lists for 2019. If that doesn’t sound promising I don’t know what does. Get the mosh pits ready there’s some new punk madness on the horizon!

ORCHARDS

As a girl in the industry, I am happy to see how many female-fronted bands are out there nowadays. One of my favourites at the minute are Orchards. I happened to discover them last year at Moth Club. I hadn’t heard of them before but their set basically blew me away. The group explains their genre as “50% pop, 49% glitter & 1% oat milk” which I can say is definitely accurate. I highly recommend you check them out.

AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS

Do you sometimes wish you’d grown up in the punk era of the 80s? Well we can’t time travel but attending a gig of Amyl And The Sniffers comes close to it. It’s hard to explain their live shows in words, it’s something you need to experience but one thing is for sure, we’ll definitely hear more of the rising punksters this year and I am sure they’ll make their way over the pond to play many gigs over here. So make sure you get a ticket and experience some time travel yourself.

SHVPES

I felt the urge to mention them on here. I have a soft spot for heavier bands and Shvpes 100% meet my taste. Since they released their album at the end of 2018 it’s been on repeat. If you like Rock/Metal they are definitely worth a listen.
