Apple Plants Seed with Sonos

Exciting news from the insane world of home audio- As anticipated, Apple Music will be compatible with Sonos in public beta from December 15th, with general availability early next year.

The public beta will allow many features of Apple Music to be controlled by the Sonos app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC and Android phones, and played in any or multiple rooms in the home.

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue said: “Many of our members love Sonos and want to enjoy our service throughout their homes. We’re thrilled to be working with Sonos to provide the Apple Music experience in even more places fans enjoy music”.

Jimmy Iovine didn’t make an official comment but was allegedly overheard saying that women were not capable of listening to new music through Sonos, at least not until Apple partnered with them.

Either 50% of the population find discovering new music online difficult or Iovine is an idiot, you decide. And if you think it’s the former, please unsubscribe.

On a side note, it’s interesting to The Gen that people would invest in Sonos or any sort of ‘walled garden’ system when there are so many open alternatives, not least the £30 Google chromecast audio plugged into decent speakers.
