BBC Music on the Record

BBC Music has partnered with Record Store Day UK for its ninth annual event.

As you should all know, Record Store Day is an annual and now huge and global in scope, celebration of independent record shops and the vinyl format.

Special programming will take place across the BBC radio networks. In the build up to the event on 16th April, Steve Lamacq (who else?) will talk to different record stores around the UK on 6Music as they reveal live events and appearances that will take place in their stores.

In addition, Lauren Laverne’s show will also be broadcasting live from a record store on 15th April and 6Music will be the first to announce the exclusive Record Store Day product list.

25,000 music fans are expected to descend on their local stores in the UK, with scenes resembling George A Romero’s Night of the Living Dead with a splash of coloured vinyl.

Editor of BBC Music James Stirling said: “BBC Music is always keen to support moments that unite people through their love of music. Record Store Day does exactly that and we are very happy to be officially involved this year”.
