Berwick Film Festival
The Berwick Film Festival’s 10th anniversary starts today (17th) and runs through to 21st September, once again transforming the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed into one big screen through film premieres, site-specific installations and live events. Attracting over 8,000 visitors to venues throughout the town and along its historic town walls, the event also draws the cream of filmmakers, industry and artists from all corners of the world.
The full programme is now live, and a Festival Pass can get you in to everything for only £35!
This year’s pertinently titled Border Crossing theme, will take audiences on a journey crossing and transcend borders in all directions, exploring border identities all over the world. Berwick-upon-Tweed makes an ideal starting point: a border town in a region once known as ‘the debatable lands’ (well, we think the debating is almost over) and with an identity neither English nor Scottish, but all of its own.
The festival will also feature the premier screening of Philip (Radiohead) Selway’s newly commissioned music video by Rammatik, plus an accompanying short set from his latest album, Weatherhouse and a Q&A session, all brought to Berwick by Northern Film and Media as part of the Sound + Vision experience.
Taking place in the same week as the historic Scottish independence referendum, and marking their tenth anniversary, the Festival will bring together independent film and artists’ video to explore boundaries – on the map and in the mind.
