BRYDE
London’s Bryde is a different breed of singer songwriter than most in 2016. Alongside her outstanding voice and lyrics, she isn’t afraid to let her guitar do a lot of the talking, and as such today’s tip Help Yourself is brimming with powerful riffage.
Her second single, Help Yourself kicks off already at 60mph with a riff that mimics Anna Calvi or Bully covering The Cardigans’ My Favourite Game, but in truth Bryde is miles apart from and much rawer than that. In truth there’s a lot of drama in Bryde’s music, and the build-up as the song progresses reminds of London Grammar more than anybody else.
Sarah Howells’ voice on the other hand is jagged and just as raw sounding as her guitar which helps make the dark drama of the track during the louder parts of Help Yourself.
Bryde is already set for an excellent year and with a UK tour kicking off next week, and a US tour already planned for summer, it seems like we’ll be hearing many more of her excellent tunes as the year progresses.
