Dugher in as Culture Sec

The Labour Party has appointed Michael Dugher as Shadow Culture Secretary following Jeremy Corbyn’s decisive Labour leadership victory this month.

Dugher will replace Chris Bryant, who at least had a fairly amusing spat with James Blunt last year. Dugher, an ex-Gordon Brown spokesman who actually backed Andy Burnham in the leadership race, will now lead on culture, media and sport issues for the opposition.

On the music front, The Guardian reports that one thing Dugher shares with his opponent, Culture Secretary John Whittingdale is a love of Karoke. Dugher also apparently likes The Beatles, with The White Album his favourite at least- The Gen would advise you to never trust anyone who says Sgt Peppers or Abbey Road.

Speaking of the fab four, a mysterious countdown has appeared on their website, leading to fervent speculation that their albums are about to appear on streaming services.
