EVO EMERGING HEADLINERS

The headlining artists have now been confirmed for the forthcoming Evolution Emerging showcase!

EE 17 Master Announcement

Taking place across the Ouseburn Valley on Saturday May 27th and hosted in some of Newcastle’s most celebrated independent venues, Evolution Emerging, now in its ninth year, is set to be a festival to remember with rising 21st Century soul sensation Lulu James taking centre stage.

Having earned national acclaim and serious radio time for her evocative and distinctive sound, the Tanzanian-born singer, who moved to the North East when she was just six-years-old, will perform at The Cluny as part of the event and is a worthy headliner for the celebrated festival.

She will be joined by fellow headlining North East stars COQUIN MIGALE, the hotly tipped four-piece band EAT FAST along with Chad Male’s Cape Cub, and The Sunday Times favourites Bryde.

Evolution Emerging will also see Emerging songstress Keiandra perform plus Newcastle Singer-Songwriter Fletcher Jackson and the indie threesome Blesh.

Speaking about today’s announcement, Bob Allan, Talent Development Manager at Generator, said:

“The best part of Evolution Emerging is when artists who have played the event as undiscovered acts emerge as headliners in later years. I’m really excited to have South Shields’ 21st-century soul artist Lulu James headline The Cluny for 2017’s festival, having opened the same stage at our event 4 years ago she has gone on to release on major labels, collaborate with mercury nominated artists and tour the world. Newcastle’s Coquin Migale also opened the Cluny stage two years previous and will now return to headline Cluny 2 with their epic alt-rock following the release of their debut album, headlining the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival and recording a Maida Vale session for BBC Radio 1.

“Performing the event as a new artist last year and with so much ‘buzz’ and ‘fuzz’ around them we had to welcome back EAT FAST to headline our Tyne stage who were tipped by The Guardian as one of their ‘Future 50‘ most exciting independent artists in the world for 2017. This progression of artists from Regional to National and Generator’s ability to unearth the best of the new music in the North East is what Evolution Emerging is all about, keep an eye on our site for further announcements and get your ticket to discover your new favourite emerging artist.”

Presented by Generator and now in its ninth year, Evolution Emerging is the North East’s biggest event for new music and annually presents over 40 exciting emerging artists in some of the region’s best independent music venues, located in the thriving Ouseburn Valley.

The event continues to unearth countless new artists from the North East and beyond and has previously showcased notable performances from the likes of Nadine Shah, Hyde and Beast, Lanterns on the Lake, Beth Jeans Houghton, Detroit Social Club, Eliza and the Bear, The Lake Poets and Cattle & Cane.

The full line-up for Evolution Emerging will be announced on Monday 6th March.
