Generator Makes First Signing Of 2018
One of the North East's most exciting new bands A Festival, A Parade have signed a music development deal with the UK's leading artist support agency, Generator.
Having impressed the agency with their unique blend of energetic, dark, intricate and melodic rock, the young four-piece from Tyneside will hook up with Generator’s Tipping Point Records label on a 12-month deal.
The label, which boasts the likes of Eliza and the Bear, The Lake Poets and Jake Houlsby on its previous roster, has said it is committed to taking its latest recruit to the next level as it looks to propel the band onto an international stage.
Generator’s Talent Development Manager, Charlie Dancer, explains: “A Festival, A Parade are a hugely talented band who deserved to be heard. I’m very fortunate to have seen them really grow over the last couple of years from selling out The Cluny with their debut EP to headlining one of the stages at our own Evolution Emerging festival in 2016. They’ve honed their craft and now, with Generator’s support, are ready to get their sound out to the masses!
“We have an abundance of musical culture embedded in the history of the region and it is a great privilege that through my work at Generator I am able to help promote these acts to the larger national, and indeed the global industry.
“Tipping Point Records was set up to go that one step further in helping out artists. Quality artistry deserves to be heard, regardless of how much money they have or where they come from. We’re aiming to level the playing field.
“Over the next 12 months, aim is to help the band turn their hobby into a possible career. We’re very much looking forward to getting their new music out there and will pushing their unique sound in front of the eyes and ears of the world.”
For the past 25 years, Generator has been heralded as a leading talent development agency in the UK for music development.
Tipping Point – the musical arm of Generator as of January 2018 – supports the development of artists and musical businesses in the North East and a conscious decision was made by the organisation to further expand its talent development pipeline entering into the more commercial ground.
In the past, Generator has supported the likes of Eliza and The Bear, who soon after signed to Universal, and The Lake Poets, who went on to achieve over 4 million streams on Spotify and after its founder Martin Longstaff was able to record his debut album in Nashville during the early years of the label.
Since launching officially as ‘Tipping Point Records’ in 2016, the label has witnessed the success of two brilliant artists springboard from the development deals, including Wallsend-born Jake Houlsby (whose track Howl was used on a Ford Car advert across Europe) and Bryde, who achieved multiple BBC Radio 1 plays and festival bookings off the back of the deal.
Inspired by the likes of The National, Manchester Orchestra and The Twilight Sad, A Festival, A Parade will be releasing all of their music through Tipping Point Records in the next 12 months.
To catch them live, A Festival, A Parade will be playing Leeds Oporto on Wednesday, 4th April (as part of a Tipping Point curated showcase), London’s The Old Blue Last on Thursday, 5th April and are headlining Newcastle’s Mining Institute on Saturday, 28th April.
