Glasto Plots Longleat Festival

As the festival season kicks off, The Gen was just thinking that we are really lacking another major UK festival event in the calendar. It’s therefore reassuring that the organisers of Glastonbury Festival have confirmed that they plan to stage a new music festival in Longleat, near Bath, in 2019.

The year will be a “fallow year” for Glastonbury to allow the Worthy Farm site to recover, and a spokesperson confirmed to the BBC that plans for a new event were in their early stages. The Longleat site is around 30 miles from Worthy Farm.

Co-organiser Emily Eavis (pictured) commented: “It’s going to be the whole team behind the Glastonbury Festival but it’s not going to be called Glastonbury. The main thing to set straight is that Glastonbury Festival itself will always be at Worthy Farm”.

Glastonbury was originally set to take a year off in 2017, but these plans have been postponed. Muse, Coldplay and Adele headline this year’s event later this month from June 22th – 26th.
