Interval Records Opens Invitations to Summer Showcase Highlighting Fresh Talent

After months of hard work behind the scenes, it’s full steam ahead at Generator’s collaborative label with EMI North, Interval Records.

Highlighting North East talent is at the core of Generator’s ethos, which is why we’re thrilled to be working closely on the ground through our work with Interval Records, to facilitate the growth of the next generation of local talent. Our goal of continuing to shape a more inclusive and sustainable industry would be impossible without the incredible local network present in the North East. This is why we’re delighted to invite you to Interval Records’ Summer Showcase, so you can see four electrifying new artists for yourself.

Set to take place at The Grove in Newcastle on August 15th, you’ll be able to witness Finn Forster, KOJ, Ellie Scougall, and Remée perform live. It cements the label’s position as an industry force to be reckoned with. Always seeking to break down barriers, we’re also glad to share that there will be a networking opportunity following the artists’ live sets. Events such as this are essential for strengthening the surrounding community, and we’re sure it will be the first of many. Doors open at 5:30 pm, so get down early to discover the exciting new phase of Interval Records.

Finn Forster, a rising singer-songwriter from Middlesbrough, has officially joined Interval Records as the first core roster signing. Supported by Claire Collins PR, Wixen Music Publishing, One Finix, and Wood Management, his latest EP, “Grey Skies,” showcases his undeniable talent and potential for success. Discover more about this exciting new signing here. In addition to Finn Forster, Interval Records has also welcomed several new artists to the label.

Another emerging artist working with the label as part of the Liverpool Black Music Incubator for Artists & Professionals in partnership with Liverpool City Region, rap artist KOJ, is already established as an incontestable prodigy in the rap scene. Described by Occulate as ‘The Future of UK Rap’, part of his talent is the ability to write lyrics that can relate to the masses yet still contain a vulnerable quality. Part of DJ Target’s 1Xtra Touchdown Tour in Liverpool this year, he has also secured DSP support from Apple Music and Amazon on his latest single, ‘A Roadman’s Tale of Home’ (Interval Records), as well as a single premiere from DJ Semtex on Capital Xtra. Look out for the third single from his EP, “Villain With A Conscience”, out later this autumn.  He’s truly flying the flag for the Northern music scene.

Cutting her teeth in the city’s underground club scene, Ellie Scougall is a true frontrunner due to her ability to craft uplifting and groovy mixes, featuring an unexpected cocktail of house, garage and electro elements. After teaching herself to DJ following a Sam Devine set at Parklife festival in 2022, Ellie has since secured several residencies in Newcastle – even going on to support Devine, as well as Gorgon City and D.O.D. With her first release planned for later this summer and national radio DJ’s eagerly awaiting the drop, she’s certainly an artist to keep an eye on. Aside from her music, she’s also a broadcaster and podcast host – you can catch her interviewing industry insiders on her ‘Inside the USB’ podcast.

Mick Ross, Generator’s CEO said: “We’re thrilled to help facilitate an opportunity like this to not only remind others of the wealth of talent surrounding us, but also offer our community a unique chance to network and meet face-to-face. Through our work with Interval Records, we hope to reduce the separation between labels and those outside the room to make it more inclusive for all. We’re looking forward to seeing you at the showcase.”

Josh Daniel, Interval Records’ Label Lead said: “This is an incredibly exciting event for us, as it’s the first time both the wider industry and the creative community in the North East will get a feel for who we are at Interval Records, and, of course, they’ll be able to see some of the artists who we are working with perform live. Opportunities to be in rooms with music execs and representatives from some of the biggest frontline music businesses is one that historically hasn’t come around too often, especially in the North. Generator have moved mountains in the region to make that possible over recent years, and as we very much share in their mission to make industry accessible for all, it was imperative that we opened the event to artists, managers, creatives and others in the local community, who could benefit. If you’re none of those and simply a music lover, that’s great too! The lineup proudly showcases some very special talent from outside of London, and it’s set to be a fantastic evening. So come  and join us at The Grove. We hope to see you there on the 15th!”
