MAJIK

I have to admit to a certain amount of trepidation on being asked to review London duo MAJIK as any purposeful misspelling of a word when used as a band name usually signals cod-funk or bland soul.

Thankfully, new track ‘It’s Alright’ is more of a woozy, off-kilter, blissed electro landscape with subdued vocals sliding in on top of some winding guitar notes, gently crunchy beats and an electro hum akin to the fridge in your kitchen in the dead of night.

This is late night music inspired by the city and its inability to stop that leaves with that feeling of being awake but not being sure how or why.
