Meet Bootcamp Graduate – Joanna James

Digital Design wasn’t my first choice. I actually started with Art Education and graduated from Fine Art college following into BA in Cultural Studies, but all of this wasn’t enough. I felt I was still missing something. Digital Design gave me a different view of creativity. I generated visual ideas but also planned solutions, and solved problems.

I completed an internship with Newcastle College and Lit and Phil Library working on Reflections of Newcastle 1914-18 iBook. During this internship, I had a chance to learn to use new software and to work in a creative team.

I also worked on freelance projects, logo design, and branding, which gave me an experience of working with a client.

I recently finished Generator’s Digital Bootcamp this gave me an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into the creative digital sector. I had a chance to experience agency life and to work in a team. I also worked on my first design sprint and learned about Agile project management and Scrum work frame. My Digital Bootcamp experience confirmed even more that I want to work in a digital agency.

I would like to continue my progress and to learn new skills. I want to work as a UX/UI Designer as this is the most exciting role for me both creative and problem-solving.
