Meteor Shower over Villagers

Villagers (pictured) have won the Meteor Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2013 for second album ‘Awayland’. The LP, released by Domino Recording Co, was chosen by a panel of 12 Irish music media professionals and beat a shortlist of ten albums released last year. These included artists such as Little Green Cars, My Bloody Valentine and Bell X1.

In addition to an award, Villagers received a cheque for €10,000 provided by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA).

Elsewhere, The Original Rudeboys won the Meteor Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year for their track ‘Never Gonna Walk Away’, chosen by the public via social media and text voting.
