Ministry of Plenty
Ministry of Sound has announced the launch of a live streaming platform that will broadcast gigs from the London club each Friday and Saturday night via the MoS website. Presumably aimed at aging clubbers who can’t be bothered anymore, ‘Live From The Club’ will provide high quality video through five fixed cameras from the club’s main room The Box. The streams are then made available on-demand from the following Monday.
The streaming began with Benny Benassi’s gig last Saturday, (19th April) from 1am until 7am, though The Gen is perplexed as to who would not go to a club but would stay up until 7am to watch a live stream of a DJ or gig. Presumably its aimed at sold-out shows, attracting Ministry fans outside of London and the realisation of a near future in which everything is available on-demand all of the time.
PPL and PRS granted a special license for Ministry to deliver video streaming of DJ sets through its website. James Garside, Product Manager for Apps & Platforms from Ministry of Sound said: “Live From The Club gives millions of clubbers the chance to see and hear the world’s biggest DJs at Ministry of Sound every Friday and Saturday night”.
Garside continued: “We’ve broadcast audio-only DJ sets via Ministry of Sound Radio for nearly two years; but a video stream brings to life the experience of our award-winning club. There are no barriers to accessing the content – Live From The Club is hosted on our brand new website and available via mobile, tablet and desktop devices. In addition to delivering high quality audio and video to the audience, our key priority has been protecting the privacy of our clubbers by focusing on wide club angles and shots of the DJ”
