Music+Sound Awards: Alpha Papa
Following a UK based awards event in February, the winners of this year’s International Music+Sound Awards for music and sound design in film, TV and advertising have been announced. It has to be said that most awards don’t feature Roachford, Downtown Abbey and apocalyptic video game The Last of Us as winners but there you go.
The use of Roachford’s ‘Cuddly Toy’ was named ‘Best use of Sync’ for its inspired use in the opening titles of the ‘Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa’ film. ‘The Last of Us’ was awarded best sound design and best original composition in gaming, with Downtown taking branding and title sequence in the TV section of the same category.
Awards co-founder Dan Neale said: “We’re really proud to be the first dedicated music and sound awards anywhere in the world. We have now inspired organisations, magazines and other awards programmes to raise their game and take composers, supervisors, sync teams and sound designers seriously by recognising their achievements. While it’s not mission complete for us – there are definite signs that our awards have had an impact”.
The winners will be officially celebrated with a party at Plage Goeland in Cannes on June 20th featuring DJ Yoda, Ithica and Lisbon Kid. Find out more and see the full list of winners here.
