Sound City Direct

The organisers of Liverpool Sound City have announced details of a Direct-to-Fan campaign via Pledge Music that will offer three emerging artists an opportunity to play in front of an industry audience at the Sound City conference on 21st May.

Over the course of the event, three artists will run a live direct to fan campaign, with the winner announced on 24th May. The winner will receive a chance to play a live set on one of the major stages at Sound City 2016 in addition to a professional music video made by a local production company Greenbrick.

PledgeMusic and campaign experts JUXDIT will work with the three artists on the ground at Sound City, ensuring that they are supported across the four day Conference and Festival. Find out more here.

In addition, Edwyn Collins will deliver a keynote at the event, joining previously announced Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne. The theme of Collin’s keynote will be The Unsung Hero, focusing on the “mavericks and mayhem makers who have helped shape the face of rock and roll”.

Edwyn Collins said: “I’m delighted to be in Liverpool for Sound City, I’ve always felt an affinity for the place. Back in the Orange Juice days we were regulars in the city playing at places like Eric’s. I’ve always had great support from Liverpool and I always look forward to coming back”.

Other speakers confirmed include Mark E Smith (good luck with that one-ah!), Julian Cope (again, best of luck), James Barton (Cream), Viv Albertine of The Slits and Jane Weaver alongside the In Conversation programme hosted by DJ and presenter Dave Haslam.

Gen readers can get a £30 discount on delegate passes, giving you access to both the conference and festival for the entire event with the code SCindustry.

Artists confirmed to play Liverpool Sound City include headliners The Flaming Lips, Belle & Sebastian, The Vaccines and many more, find out more about the line-up and the conference here.
