Spotify: Uber Streaming

Spotify has confirmed a partnership with Uber that will integrate the two services, enabling people to select and play music through the streaming service whilst on Uber car journeys.

In a possible breach of the Geneva Convention, easy going Heart FM loving drivers could soon be subjected to the strains of Godspeed you Black Emperor and Cabaret Voltaire on the long journey home.

The service will initially be rolled out in 10 cities around the world- London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Nashville, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Stockholm, Sydney and Toronto with a wider global roll-out anticipated.

Users can connect a Spotify account via the Uber app, request a taxi, get matched up with a Spotify-enabled Uber car and then select music from the Spotify catalogue, including their own playlists.

Which is all very technically clever but lets not forget that Uber has taken a recent pasting in the press for alleged misogyny and attempts to dig dirt on critical journalists.
