Tranzfuser Games Hub

Vector 76 a virtual reality development studio based in Gateshead, have been named as regional hub for the new Government funded talent programme Tranzfuser offering UK graduates up to £30,000 in funding to build a team and make a game.

Operated by UK Games Talent and Finance CIC, Tranzfuser is looking for graduates with a desire to break into the games industry. Each application must come from an individual, whether the representative of an existing team or merely someone seeking to build one.

As a regional hub, Vector 76, in partnership with Generator and based at VRTGO Labs in Gateshead Quays, will provide mentoring and business advice for three teams with access to hot-desking space from June to August.

Tranzfuser has a practical focus, with an underlying goal of helping successful applicants get their projects to market. The successful ones will be awarded £5,000 to help them develop an idea into working prototype over the course of this coming summer. During that process, they can seek assistance from industry professionals in Tranzfuser’s “regional hubs” there are ten confirmed across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The resulting prototypes will be part of a showcase event in September, with a select group then invited to pitch for a further £25,000 from the UK Games Fund that will allow them to launch both a company and a product.

It is the first time a UK-wide talent programme has been linked directly to a prototype fund allowing new teams to benefit from grants and interaction with a host of other early stage games development companies.

Applicants must:

Be a graduate – a person who has successfully been awarded an undergraduate, first academic degree or masters / other postgraduate degree, between the dates of September 2014 and September 2016
Have relevant qualifications and experience, i.e. have completed a science or art degree relevant to games development
We’re not necessarily looking for professional experience but applicants are expected to provide evidence of experience in programming or digital art (coursework and project work are fine for this purpose)
Have a residential address in the UK

Key dates

Applications open: 7th March 2016
Applications close: 15th April 2016
Successful applicants notified: mid-May
Development kicks off: 1st June 2016
Deadline for completion of development: 31st August 2016
