Viola Beach Album Release
An album of music by the late Warrington band Viola Beach (pictured) will be released this month, following a moving tribute by Coldplay during their headline Glastonbury set.
The band, including Kris Leonard (20), guitarist River Reeves (19), bassist Tomas Lowe (27) and drummer Jack Dakin (19) were all killed alongside their manager Craig Tarry (33) in a tragic road traffic accident in Sweden in February this year.
Following a recent tribute concert in their hometown, a 9-track album will now be released on 29th July via the band’s own Fuller Beans Records label.
A statement from the band’s families said: “We are tremendously proud of everything the boys achieved in such a short space of time. Craig, Jack, Kris, River and Tom shared a huge passion, talent and dedication to music”.
It continues: “We believe the best way to celebrate our sons’ lives is to release an album of their songs. This is their legacy and we know deep in our hearts that the boys would want the world to listen to the music they poured everything into. This was only the beginning for them and these nine songs were written with every intention to be shared, heard and most of all, enjoyed. We hope that it brings you as much happiness listening to it, as we know it did to them making it”.
In a wonderful gesture, the Viola Beach single, ‘Boys That Sing’, was covered by Coldplay during their headline slot at Glastonbury this year. Spotify streams of the song increased 6,148% afterwards.
