Welsh Music Prize Shortlist Announced

It isn’t all about Skepta winning the Mercury Prize this month, the shortlist for this year’s Welsh Music Prize has also been announced. The award selects the twelve best albums released by Welsh artists in the last twelve months, with this year’s list including albums from Cate le Bon,Climbing Trees, The Anchoress and 9Bach.

Welsh Music Prize organiser John Rostron said: “This is an incredibly strong shortlist for the Welsh Music Prize. Twelve very different records, made by some well established artists and some new emerging stars with songs that embrace a whole host of genres, sounds and influences. Congratulations to them all. So many great albums are being released from Wales at the moment – it’s a really good time to be listening to new music and finding some new favourites”.

The winner will be announced in a ceremony at DEPOT in Cardiff on 24th November, with tickets priced at £30 including street food and drinks. Find out more and see the complete shortlist here.
