Women in Music 2015
The roll of honour for this year’s Women in Music event has been announced, alongside the winners of six special category awards.
Women in Music is a joint venture from Music Week, UK Music and AIM and launched last year to recognise and celebrate the most successful female executives from all areas of the industry.
This is the second event and a celebratory lunch will take place at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, London on November 13th.
The Women In Music list was decided through nominations from Music Week’s readership and in consultation with an industry panel consisting of senior executives at leading companies across the industry. The list includes female executives from the likes of Beggars, Atlantic, Sony, the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA), BMG, PRS for Music, CAA, Qprime, Cooking Vinyl and Later…with Jools Holland. The special category awards include Outstanding Contribution, Businesswoman of the Year, Inspirational Artist, Campaigner and Rising Star.
Music Week Editor Tom Pakinkis said: “Let’s be honest, we weren’t sure about this when we launched it last year, and we, along with AIM and UK Music, were really wary of striking the wrong tone or becoming part of the problem rather than a sliver of the solution”.
Pakinkis continued: “Thankfully, the day turned out to be a really joyous and inspiring celebration of some fantastic execs, artists, campaigners and pioneers. The feedback we had was uniformly positive and we’re delighted to be returning to the Royal Garden to honour more women in music and hear some more of their stories”.
