IMPALA European Album of the Year Shortlist
22 acts from 19 different countries have made the shortlist for the 2018 IMPALA European Album of the year
Nominations include albums from King Krule, Aldous Harding, Ibeyi, Millionaire, Fever Ray, Laura Marling, The xx, who have previously won the award.
Further names up for the award include Gurr, Portugese solo artist Surma and Chui I Jazz Orkestar HRT (Croatia), Marko Louis (Serbia) and Širom (Slovenia).
The award was launched in 2011 to mark a decade of IMPALA, which represents European independent labels and was founded to showcase the diversity of independent talent across Europe. The criteria is that albums need to have been released on a European independent label between January and December 2017.
Executive Chair of IMPALA Helen Smith said: “This is a great shortlist from all over Europe including the Balkans from where we are just coming back after taking part in MENT Ljubljana festival. There is a good mix of new artists and more established acts. It will be a very tight vote”.
