Pirates Set Sail with Prodigy Programme

Pirate Studios has partnered with managers, agents, promoters, music publishers, PR's and radio execs on a new talent programme to back emerging talent in the UK. Will the initiative sail on or hit the rocks?

The initiative will take the form of a competition that launched yesterday, with submissions open for tracks at piratestudios.co.uk/prodigy. Entries will be transferred to Soundcloud for public vote.

The ‘Pirate Prodigy’ Programme will help launch the careers of three new UK acts with the assistance of an industry advisory team including Mike Bennett (UTA), Mikey Joins (This Feeling), Mike Walsh (Radio X head of music), Great Escape booker Lyndsey Boggis and Simon Pursehouse (Sentric’s Director or music services).

The experts will provide one-to-one mentoring and masterclasses in areas such as management, publishing, A&R, radio airplay, songwriting and PR. In addition, Pirate will provide unlimited free use of their rehearsal facilities, studio time with professional engineers, free video production, branding and marketing advice as well as promotion across social media channels.

Co-founder of Pirate Studios David Borrie, said: “We have 20,000 musicians in our community – a lot are producing amazing music. We find it incredible some of these guys aren’t already household names so we thought it would be awesome if we could be the ones to give them a helping hand”.

The three winning artists will also secure festival slots as well as a guaranteed audience with industry A&R at three invite-only shows taking place across the UK in the summer. Who needs ‘battle of the bands’ anymore?

The final deadline for entries is March 19th.
