TIPPER OF THE WEEK: SAMMY SADLER

This week we continue our latest feature on the Tipping Point, spotlighting the biggest and best emerging acts from across the UK. Each Monday, we ask one of our esteemed tippers to select five of their hottest tips to be featured on the site throughout the week.

Next up we’ve got Sammy Sadler, assistant editor at Popped Music. Sammy spends the majority of her spare time at gigs in the North East or listening to new music. Passionate about new and upcoming artists, Sammy is constantly looking to shine a light on the latest talent. Check out her top picks below!

INDIGO VELVET

These Scottish sweethearts have been making waves recently with their vibrant, indie-pop packed full of cosmic soundscapes and African inspired influences. I’ve been lucky enough to catch them at Kendal Calling and the Surf Cafe in Tynemouth and their live shows are awesome – you’re guaranteed to leave with a big grin on your face. I’ve had them on repeat a lot recently and I can’t recommend them enough.

DEEP.SLEEP

I really do love DEEP.SLEEP – every time I’ve seen them live I’ve had a great time and their catchy tunes are always stuck in my head for days. From the North East, DEEP.SLEEP’s songs consist of that typical dreamy young love, with each track oozing summery vibes. Energetic and fun, they are the kind of band that needs to be on your Spotify playlist, no matter the occasion.

MARTHA HILL

I’m yet to see Martha live but going off the fact she has already supported the likes of Maximo Park at the Sage, you can tell she’s someone you need to keep an eye on. Her tracks Spiders and Wallflower were amongst my favourite of 2018 and I’m so excited to see what she’ll do next.

FEHM

The 2019 answer to Joy Division, in my eyes FEHM can do no wrong. Their brooding rock charged with whimsical electro synths and classic riffs balances the tightrope between post-punk and early 80s indie-rock. Deep vocals from frontman Paul Riddle compliments their atmospheric instrumentals perfectly and if you’re a fan of something that little bit different, this Leeds outfit are a must.
