APOLLO GETS THE GIRL

Synthpop types Apollo Gets the Girl only formed last year, and quickly earned sufficient acclaim to be selected on the bill for Newcastle’s Evolution Emerging (the fringe fest for Evolution and showcase for the best of the North East’s bounty of emerging talent). The show was actually their live debut (starting on a high, eh?), and since then they’ve got their heads down and got on with recording and put out Starchild and New Dawn towards the end of the year.

Their latest single ‘Kitten’ is a fascinating piece of music. It’s essentially a pop song which wanders away from being a pop song halfway through, meandering into this wonderful Fuck Buttons-style pulsating electronic piece. There’s not many bands doing this kind of thing in the North East at the moment, so AGTG are very much worth watching. The single is released on March 4th.
