BBC Music Awards Artists Announced
The BBC has announced the nominees for their first ever music awards, to be held this week at Earls Court in London. Nominated artists include David Bowie, Jungle, Dolly Parton, Prince, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Royal Blood.
The complete event will be presented by Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton and broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 and 2 from 6pm this Thursday (11th December). Voting for the Song Of The Year will open via announcements on Nick Grimshaw and Chris Evans’ breakfast shows this week. The winners will be determined chosen by a BBC music panel that will also include leading music journalists.
Director of BBC Music Bob Shennan said: “The BBC Music Awards exist to celebrate the past 12 months in music. The shortlists feature an amazing range of hugely talented artists. Each and every one has made a unique mark on the music industry.
Shennan continued: “They have experienced phenomenal success and it’s wonderful to see new acts featuring alongside some of the biggest names in the business”.
Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, David Bowie, Elbow, Jungle and Royal Blood will battle it out for British Artist Of The Year. Dolly Parton, Gregory Porter, Lorde, Pharrell, Prince and Taylor Swift are all nominated for International Artist of the year.
The Gen may be mistaken but we have been unable to locate a third category, though perhaps the BBC should be praised for its minimalism in this area given the amount of industry awards that currently exist.
Artists performing live at the event include emerging talent such as One Direction, Coldplay, Take That, Clean Bandit and Calvin Harris alongside George Ezra and Paloma Faith.
