CATGOD

Taking the opportunity to build momentum following praise for previous single ‘Ready When You Are’ from BBC6 Music’s Tom Robinson, CATGOD have released ‘Someone Love’, a two and a half minute track where you can really indulge in the rich vocal harmonies that the Oxford based collective do so well.

There isn’t the wailing guitar that features in ‘Ready When You Are’ or the repetition of a doorbell as heard in ‘I’m Innocent’; ‘Someone Love’ deals with universal feelings of longing with lyrics like ‘I’m lying in my bed thinking of someone’ and wouldn’t sound out of place on the Garden State soundtrack. Despite the band referencing their Trip Hop influences, and other reviewers likening them to Massive Attack and Portishead, I was more reminded of Sigur Rós. Either way the track is a reflection of the collective’s diverse interests and talents and it will be exciting to see what Catgod do next.
