FATHERSON
If Scotland does gain it’s independence in the near future, boy oh boy England is going to miss it. Our latest Wimbledon winner? Scottish. Our most breathtaking scenic views? Scottish. Our best anthemic, sing your heart out, rock and roll? Definitely Scottish, and if you even try and question me on that last one allow me to introduce Fatherson. Kilmarnock raised but currently residing in amongst the musical nebulous of Glasgow, Fatherson create finely crafted, all encompassing rock and roll.
Their natural gift for catchy melodies, and shout out loud choruses see them slotting in nicely with their Gaelic peers Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro, all alongside the impassioned intensity of Manic Street Preachers, early Idlewild or ‘Clarity’ era Jimmy Eat World. ‘I Like Not Knowing’ is the first track coming from ‘I Am An Island’ due to be released in April via A Modern Way, and before that they’ll be touring the country supporting Lonely The Brave. They’ll be well worth catching if you can, as if the Gods of pop music are paying proper attention, Fatherson could be headlining a Stadium near you soon, with a thousand fans screaming along; ‘I don’t know where we are going, I could hazard a guess, but I like not knowing’.
