While North East five-piece Fractions have only just officially surfaced on the musical radar, they’ve wasted no time in treating us to a beautifully accomplished debut track that tantalisingly hints at what they have to offer. Breathe is a glorious slice of synth pop which blends The Cure‘s darkly affecting sense of heartache with CHVRCHES‘ contemporary brand of anthemic electronic pop to create a track which delicately shimmers like a precious jewel.

Careful production allows Breathe to sonically stun, weaving a dreamy soundscape where it’s possible for its female vocals to float freely across the skittering synths, swooning and soaring in all the right places. Feeling intimate yet somehow enormous all at once, Breathe is a majestic first impression that has already left us clamouring for more.
