Gateshead Digital Business Set To Double Turnover
A Gateshead digital marketing business is celebrating its first decade by being on target to double its turnover in the next 12 months and create a further 20 job.
As a result of this success, Mediaworks has been selected by North East England Chamber of Commerce to compete against the UK’s leading digital businesses at the British Chambers of Commerce Awards in autumn.
The company was set up by entrepreneur Brett Jacobson after he graduated from Northumbria University. He said: “We are really honoured to be representing the region at the national business awards in London. It has been an exciting past few years for us, with such substantial growth, but I also have further ambitions for the company. Our plans include being at the forefront of developing creative talent and being a thought leader for the digital sector as a whole.”
A wide range of clients use Mediaworks’ services including high profile companies GlaxoSmithKline, House of Fraser, Tommee Tippee, Ralph Lauren and fellow Chamber members Omega Plastics and Esh Group.
Chamber relationship manager, Anthony Stringer said: “We are delighted Mediaworks are going to be competing for a national British Chambers of Commerce award. This business is a fantastic example of our growing digital sector and the outstanding results which can be achieved with imaginative campaigns.”
Mediaworks comprehensive range of digital services include Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Paid Search (PPC), Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO), web and app development and creative content. More recently it has also seen a growing demand for online reputation management.
Through continued digital innovation, Mediaworks helps brands seize opportunities and grow their brand in an online space. The agency is in the process of developing a data reporting tool, giving clients’ greater visibility of their campaigns.
In addition, attracting the brightest industry talent is high on Mediaworks’ list of priorities. Newcastle-native Brett Jacobson said: “We believe in finding and nurturing the North East’s best digital talent. From apprentice to graduate schemes, we support regional talent at every level.”
“We are proud to be headquartered in the North East and joined the Chamber as we a firm believer in networking and meeting like-minded businesses.”
One of the most successful campaigns the company has developed was for St Oswald’s Hospice. To support the Great North Snowdog trail — which featured a series of Snowdog sculptures that were displayed in 60 locations around the region — Mediaworks created an app. The app received over 2.5m interactions and at one point, was above Microsoft’s Minecraft in the App Store charts.
Following the success of the Snowdogs project, Mediaworks has developed subsequent apps to support other charities, providing them with a vital fundraising tool without the costly technical set up expenses. The most recent project was the Big Sleuth trail in support of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. The app charted at number three in the app store.
Mediaworks are set to create a further app for St Oswald’s Hospice to be launched in 2019.
