GIANT FANG

Giant Fang is the alias of Glasgow based one man music maker and producer Doug Wilson – who
fills his downtime from tour management day job routines by creating uplifting, mini epic cuts of
electro pop. Two tracks have emerged online since the turn of the year and they’re a bit special,
aren’t they? Debut single ‘Kingdom’, which was released officially this week, opens with swelling
synths and a layered vocal that eases us into the song before we’re grabbed by pulsating percussion,
guitar hooks and piano stabs that reference the finer points of a Prefab Sprout or a Deacon Blue. It’s powerful stuff and, perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s already gained the affection of Huw Stephens and various platforms of BBC Radio. ‘Kingdom’ is available to buy from Giant Fang’s Bandcamp page for your desired price now.

A second track, titled ‘Aqualung’, is available to stream on the Giant Fang SoundCloud page and it
boasts the same monumental sound as its affiliate. Early days though it may be for this young Scot,
the signs are definitely positive for Giant Fang to emerge from the currently Bastille-obsessed synth pop genre and create some serious waves in 2013.
