HONNE

Honne are a duo hailing from Somerset and Wiltshire, first meeting at university in London, where they began to develop their sound and production skills. However it was a trip to Japan that appears to complete the duo’s musical ambitions, coining their band name as a Japanese word, which roughly translates to ‘True Feelings’. There is no direct translation, instead, it is a word that embodies the idea of the contrast between what one really thinks and what they project to others.

Pretty cool so far, and we haven’t even got to their debut track ‘Warm On A Cold Night’ yet. Introduced by ‘late night US DJ’ Tommy Inglethorpe, Honne’s first offering is a masterpiece. Fragile and soulful vocals connect with an entirely warming and welcoming instrumentation, embedded with softening percussion and organs. Released on Super Recordings, who’s alumni include AlunaGeorge and Bondax, on the 1st September, this has to be a must-buy release and a band to watch heading into 2015.
