JOHNNY LLOYD

Let’s not beat around the bush here; yes, this is the same Johnny Lloyd that fronted the recently departed and brief darlings of indie rock, Tribes. But worry not, dear cynic, as his new solo material is mighty impressive. ‘Pilgrims’ is the title track from Lloyd’s debut solo EP and it’s the pick of two tracks that were recently uploaded to his Soundcloud page. It’s a gorgeous, 80’s infused slice of down-beat pop that manages to draw parallels to Blood Orange’s pinched guitar melodies and groove, whilst subtly nodding at Roxy Music’s smooth and fluid pop tendencies.

There’s not too much in the way of an available plot for Mr Lloyd yet besides some European shows with The Kooks (no, really…), but you can keep an eye out for more plans and music via Facebook.
