It’s about that time of year when we start to not only reflect on the past twelve months but also look ahead to what might be in store for us next year. While, as ever, there’s a long line of bands and musicians lining up to make it on one of those hallowed “ones to watch” list, here’s a singer you really need to be keeping your eyes peeled for: Liv Dawson.

Dawson released her debut single ‘Tapestry’ back in June, and it proved to be an auspicious start. The 18-year-old from Shepperton has now decided to remind us of her powerhouse pop with ‘Open Your Eyes’. She’s enlisted Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence to help with production, and, as you might expect from one half of the world-beating electro-pop duo, her vocals are set against nods to 90s house and even some early-2000s garage vibes.

Dawson is far from outshined by her more seasoned producer though. Instead, she makes sure she’s centre stage as her flexible yet mature vocals roll smoothly over the choppy, layered beats. All eyes are on her for 2017.
