NEW DESERT BLUES

When it comes to songwriting, there are not many new bands on the go who are as thematically creative as Hampshire’s New Desert Blues.

The band released their EP last year, called ‘Devil’s Rope’, which created western characters and stories. New release ‘Swarm’ is a step in a more personal direction; however it still has a story to tell.

‘Swarm’ is their first track that’s not a boy’s name, and it’s an all-round darker affair. In this release there are large echoes of Queens of the Stone Age with a super beefy bass line.

The song paints a bleak setting with talk of swarms around the bodies of the dead and cursing you till your body breaks, and in that sense it still feels a bit like a Western movie.

The track does have a real bluesy, dusty feel to it so in ‘Swarm’, New Desert Blues are doing precisely what their name suggests.

‘Swarm’ is out on 13th May and if you’d like to go and witness New Desert Blues’ music live then you can catch them in Southampton and London during mid-May as they gear up for the release of their debut album.
