ONLY GIRL ‘PREMIERE’

Only Girl first came to The Tipping Point’s attention last summer, when she dropped her first bit of music on SoundCloud. That track, ‘Mountain’ was a gloriously heartfelt slice of R&B infused pop and acted as a perfect introduction to an exciting artist. Earlier this year, Only Girl, pseudonym of South Londoner Ellen Murphy, followed that up with debut single proper ‘Feel It’, another piece of pop wonderment.

Now, the honour falls to The Tipping Point to premier her remarkable reworking of Chris Malinchak’sSo Good To Me.’ Recorded especially for Naked Noise sessions, Murphy’s version sees the track stripped back to just an understated beat and warm keys. It works to great effect, allowing the striking yet soothing vocals to soar impressively over the sweet melodies. By the time it reaches its climax it’s hard not to be gripped by an enthralling vocal that brings to mind a wave of strong female performers, including Annie Lennox and Mariah Carey.

If that reworking has pricked up your ears and you want to hear more, get yourself down to London’s Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on the 19th November where you can check out Only Girl performing live. Support comes from Remi Miles and tickets are available now priced at £6.
