PENGUIN

After the buzz of their first release ‘Not A Problem’ which received praise and attention on BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 1, Newcastle-based alt-rockers Penguin have quickly followed up with their ferocious new single, ‘Fiction’.

The track kicks off with a fuzzy garage rock riff that wouldn’t sound out of place on an MC5 record, shortly followed by bombastic classic rock drums to really ‘kick out the jams’.

Once the vocals fire up, the song then really starts to bounce along with an infectious energy, highly reminiscent of fellow North-East post-punk luminaries The Futureheads. Thrashing drums, hazy guitar and intertwining vocals then all compete in what is a rollercoaster of a very exciting 3 minutes and 59 seconds.

Noting Evolution Emerging and NARC Fest amongst their first shows, they’re now set to play Reading and Leeds fest in what is turning out to be a very exciting start for the career of the Geordie band and a surefire sign of further great things to come!
