PRSF Flash Funding Alert!
PRS for Music Foundation, the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music and talent development, today announced its ground-breaking new funding opportunity, Flash Funding.
From today Monday 7th December 2015 until Wednesday 9th December 2015, (that’s two days time folks!) music creators can apply for the first edition of Flash Funding which is in association with Modo and offers 5 emerging UK artists and bands the opportunity to have their music pressed on to 500 x 12” vinyl worth over £1,500.
As well as the physical vinyl, the artists will receive bespoke design support using Modo’s menu of options, consultation with their creative team, release strategy mentoring with expert advice on release planning, promotion and sales strategies as each release is staggered through 2016.
Artists wanting to apply should head here where they will need to submit 2 musical examples and a 3 minute video answering basic questions about the artist and release. Further details and information on eligibility are also available. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 9th December 2015 at 23:59.
Once the deadline has closed, an expert industry panel including, John Kennedy (Radio X), Julie Weir (Visible Noise), Nigel Adams (Full Time Hobby), Pip Newby (Play It Again Sam) and Sade Lawson (Relentless Records) will pick the 5 artists from a shortlist of the applicants and the successful grantees will be publicly announced on Monday 14th December 2015.
Vanessa Reed Executive Director PRS for Music Foundation said, “Our Flash Funding initiative is an exciting new way for us to offer and deliver targeted support to music creators quickly and directly whilst maintaining our rigorous selection processes with expert advisors. We’re delighted to be partnering with Modo on the first edition of the fund and I’m sure the package they’re enabling us to offer will be of interest to an exciting range of artists and bands”.
John Kennedy, Radio X DJ said, “Anything that helps bands reach and grow their audience is a good thing. Flash Funding for vinyl is a brilliant idea as it helps give bands something to sell to people at gigs after they’ve been blown away by an amazing set. No need to disappoint them with no recordings to go home with, instead an audio artefact to cherish for the rest of their life. The album I bought from Sun Ra at the Mean Fiddler way back when will always be one of my most treasured post gig purchases. It has survived the t-shirt and still sounds beautiful!”
