TABANCA

Today’s Tip comes from London based multi-instrumentalist Tabanca as she injects left-field pop into a sound that’s highly influenced by 90s R&B.

Her new single ‘Lagoon‘ is a must listen for those who enjoy well produced, alternative, beat-based pop and after features on Radio One, Radio 1Extra and Beats 1, it’s only a matter of time before Tabanca’s a big name.

Her saccharine vocals nod towards the likes of Nao and Alunageorge yet there’s something innocent and retro about the track that is oddly reminiscent of the early Sugababes yet it totally works.

The vocal flows alongside hazy, pysch-infused loops of guitar and synth that capture those pop qualities, but in a revitalising way, similar to the likes of Ben Kahn. It flirts with an undercurrent of swelling bass that begs to be listened to on a decent sound system.

Produced by Gent Mason the pair have managed to capture a summer vibe, of being in deep, warm water. You know the one.
