TAMU

Today’s tip, Tamu, shares his name with the world’s largest volcano in the world, now submerged in the Pacific. Quite fittingly, the song also hints at ethereal eruptions throughout before a late payoff.

Tamu is a singer-songwriter who fans of Ben Howard’s layered voice and James Blake’s understated production will love. ‘Holding Back’ builds nicely, offering small snippets of glitch drops before launching into a full scale explosion towards the end of the record. The song comes from Tamu’s debut EP Alba, out on Chiverin, which is out now to stellar reviews.

He has just completed a UK tour with Shaky Graves, which also gave him some exposure in Europe, and he was also part of this year’s Dot To Dot Line-up. There are still some dates to come over the next month so if you’re down in Cornwall or Somerset look out for him. Hopefully a more extensive tour will follow with new music later in the year.
