TIPPER OF THE WEEK: JODIE BRYANT
This week we continue our latest feature on the Tipping Point, spotlighting the biggest and best emerging acts from across the UK. Each Monday, we ask one of our esteemed tippers to select five of their hottest tips to be featured on the site throughout the week.
Today we introduce presenter and producer Jodie Bryant. Jodie hosts a weekly new music show on Hoxton Radio called ‘The Hoxton Hot List’ and also works as the Assistant Producer on the KISS FM Breakfast Show with Tom Green and Daisy Maskell.
Radio and new music are Jodie’s passions – and recent guests on her Hoxton Hot List include Arlo Parks, Lauran Hibberd and Husky Loops. Check it out here! The Hoxton Hot List is quickly becoming a key authority for new music so you should definitely check out Jodie’s latest tips below.
DEXTRIC
Dextric is made up of two Londoners – James Fitz-Gibbon and Charlie Jordan and I’ve been playing these guys for a while. They’ve got a unique sound reminiscent of Jungle and / or Hozier’s first record and are definitely ones to watch! Dextric’s most recent single ‘I Got You’ is an impressive track with funk and electronic tones, impossible to ignore. They’re memorable and I’m constantly recommending that people listen to them.
JADU HEART
With their elusive personalities – part of the appeal of Jadu Heart is the mystery behind the identities of the masked duo. They’re made up of Alex Headford and Diva Jeffery who go by the alter egos Dino and Faro, and their bio describes them as ‘dark magic.’ They’ve recently released ‘Melt Away,’ and worked with Producer Mura Masa. The album title sums up how one might feel listening to it – a collection of chilled, electronic vibes.
BAELY
Baely is one of those artists that already possesses the sound and skill of a fully developed performer. However, he only released his debut single, ‘Talking to the Walls’ this year. It was inspired by Stranger Things and is an absolute banger and immediately caught my attention. His second single ‘Paranoid’ has a retro, soul but futuristic vibe – contributing to his unique sound and brand. I am very excited for the future of Baely.
WEIRD MILK
My next tip is for Weird Milk who owe their name to the milk in European countries tasting a bit ‘odd’. Their sound is 60’s inspired but still very indie – and there are definitely some hints of Alex Turner in there. If you’re looking for new indie bangers – who isn’t?! Then Weird Milk are definitely a band to listen to. They’ve received support from Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and we’ve also had them on the show at Hoxton Radio – keep your eyes and ears peeled.
DYLAN
For my final tip this week I want to add DYLAN. I have been following this gal for a while and seeing her get support from BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 1 is so exciting. She started recording songs this year and is only 19 years old. Think early Dua Lipa vibes with an indie and rock twist – this girl is here to stay and I’m here for it!
