TOTT #8: DEATH AT SEA
‘Hype’ doesn’t quite seem to fit as a justifiable adjective for Liverpool’s Death At Sea. Nothing at all to do with the promise of some gritty and electrifying tracks or the notariety of their live performances, nothing to do with that at all. In fact the hype machine would have had to go into over-drive to keep up with this bands progress over 2012.
Death At Sea only started gigging back in May, yet have already racked up supports alongside Palma Violets, Savages, and Haim. The anticipation from press and those ‘in the know’ for these names is sure to receive safe passage on to the four-piece in 2013.
Not only do this lot have the advantage of time on their side but fit comfortably into a current crop of festival regulars who help sell the likes of Leeds and Reading to the next generation of music and mud lovers. Judging by the quality of the live shows they already have under their belt, Death At Sea are sure to be the first on many an Introducing bill for festivals in 2013 before taking the main stages and mosh pits by storm in 2014.
Death At Sea were first tipped in April by Phil Gwyn from Not Many Experts and play The Tipping Point showcases at The Roundhouse and The Sage Gateshead next year.
