TWISTERELLA PREVIEW
“One ticket. Five venues. Forty of the brightest and best emerging acts” – Twisterella Festival does exactly what it says on the tin. Following the success of Middlesbrough’s inaugural multi-venue festival last October, it returns next month with another whale of a line-up brimming with some of the UK’s glistening emerging artists.
The 1000 capacity metropolitan festival, akin to the likes of Evolution Emerging and Live at Leeds, is the brainchild of independent music promoters Pay For The Piano and The Kids Are Solid Gold and shines a light on Middlesbrough’s historically understated musical prowess and established music venues.
This year’s line-up is as savvy as it is diverse; having secured a raft of artists to rival any of its UK-wide counterparts and one to satisfy even the most picky music aficionado. Of course North East favourites are plentiful with Hyde & Beast, Slug, Kingsley Chapman & The Murder and Du Blonde gracing the stage, but so too are some of the region’s more fledgling talents. The likes of Avalanche Party, Keep Breathing, Dressed Like Wolves and Joe Ramsey amongst the fresh local talent to look out for.
Tipping Point alumni Fickle Friends will be taking the trip up North from Brighton to unleash their infectious brand of synth pop as will the clamorous and ever sprightly Spring King. Another TTP favourite; the ferocious Allusondrugs will also be making an appearance; one guaranteed to leave you with ringing in your ears for days to come. Hailing from Leeds, Actor will be bringing her brooding, swooping dark synths to the mix – intense, moody and atmospheric, it’s guaranteed to be a festival highlight.
And if that wasn’t enough, Twisterella will also feature an Unconference with key music industry figures on hand to impart their expertise and advice. Panelists will include Simon Pursehouse (Sentric Music), Vic Galloway (BBC Scotland) and Tom Cotton (Amazing Radio).
Twisterella will take place in Middlesbrough on Saturday 10th October and you can get tickets HERE
