WESTERMAN

Today’s tip comes from singer-songwriter Westerman. His new single ‘Jericho’ showcases his refreshing take on emotional folk music.

The track is a slow burner, with sensitive acoustics that build and introduce well placed waves of electronics. The song ends with 8 bit keyboard and saxophone. In other circumstances one may consider the mix odd; yet every subtlety just adds to the atmosphere.

Westerman’s vocals are undeniably haunting and raw. Lyrically, the biblical references further add to the sense of majesty surrounding the song.  Fans of Bon Iver and Marika Hackman will not be disappointed with this track. With Jericho, Westerman proves that there is life left in an arguably saturated genre. His EP, Harvard is out this summer.
