BELLEVUE DAYS

Having already received heaps of praise from the UK’s rock press, including Kerrang Radio’s Alex Baker who referred to them as ‘probably my favorite band in the whole world’, it’s safe to say the future is looking bright for alt-rockers Bellevue Days.

The Croydon four-piece have just released their debut EP, ‘The Sun Came Up When We Were Young‘ which consists of four blistering tracks that fuse grunge, indie and post-hardcore to heart-swelling effect. Comparisons to cult heroes Brand New abound, and as a die-hard Brand New fan, I can confirm that I was sold on Bellevue Days from the very opening chords of ‘Let’s All Be Friends‘, the opening track on their debut. There’s also something reminiscent of the artwork for Brand New’s ‘The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me‘ in the surreal cover of ‘The Sun Came Up When We Were Young‘.

Also featured on the EP is Capability, Capacity, a master class in the power of loud-quiet dynamics. Affecting chords and introspective lyrics give way to blistering assaults of noise before the track slides back into understated, delicate moments. The exhilarating song structure is something of an emotional rollercoaster, ensuring the listener is along for the ride until the very end of the track.
