CIRCA WAVES

Merseyside garage-pop outfit Circa Waves have burst onto the scene with their new single ‘Get Away’. The band themselves: a charismatic more amiable translation of The Strokes, have followed up earlier demo ‘Young Chasers’ in similar fashion – juicy oozing guitar pop.

This tune implodes – driven by the relentless cry of rocky guitars and thunderous percussion, topped off by a painfully contagious hook, almost reminiscent of a Vaccines’ chorus. ‘Get Away’ is glazed with a fruitful marinade of beach pop, which, over the intensity of the driving percussion and bass, results in the sweetest of end products.

After landing Zane Lowe‘s Hottest Record spot, Circa Waves have demonstrated their potential to shake the musical universe. A band sure to attract fans, like myself, who are eagerly enticed by this refreshing rupture of rock and roll.

I can’t get away, if I wanted to, my hands are tied, tied to you.
